"At least 10 consecutive days of cold weather (-15°C or colder)
are needed to obtain an ice thickness of 25 to 30 centimetres
before it is safe to open the Canal for skating."
"This winter, the skating season on the world's largest skating rink lasted for 41 days and offered residents and visitors in Canada's Capital Region 34 days of skating. The 38th season of skating kicked off on January 25 and ended on March 5, 2008."
