Indoors -
located at Rye Playland in Westchester.
I-95 to exit 19 - Playland Parkway - follow the signs to the rink.
This can be a very nice place to skate.
The ice is excellent.
By far, this was probably the best ice we have skated on all season -
smooth, well maintained
(it is resurfaced halfway through a 2-hour public session)
and medium hard.
There are three rinks -
a full-size rink on the main level,
a half-size rink upstairs on the second level,
and a one-quarter size rink for small children.
The only issue about this place is that they want you to
skate carefully - forward, slowly and counterclockwise.
(There are signs "No Fast Skating".)
This is probably one of the best places for beginners to skate -
the ice is great and the crowd is controlled.
Free parking is available.
There is a skating school if you need lessons.
Coin lockers are available and cost 50 cents
(or slightly larger ones for 75 cents).
Skate rental is available.
There is a snack bar and there are several video games.
You "enter the building at your own risk" - whatever that means.
